Initial Meetings & Client Brief
Starting with a telephone call, or an informal in-person chat if you are local to Greenwich, we will discuss what you want out of your garden and what you feel is stopping you having it right now. If you want to explore further, I will visit you & your garden to get a sense of the space and delve deeper into what makes your dream garden. I will then produce a transformation plan to confirm and develop the ideas we have discussed. If we then want to work together, I will work with you to create a detailed brief for your design & we will start the process of drawing up your dream space!
Site Survey & Analysis
For smaller gardens & less complex sites I will arrange a time to visit you and take a survey of your garden - all the measurements needed to start creating a new design. For large or complicated plots, you may need to engage the services of a professional landscape surveyor. I will also take lots of photographs, make notes on aspect, problem areas and existing features that you might want incorporated into the design.
Developing the Design
During this part of the design phase I will begin to put together initial ideas for your garden based on the brief and all our prior discussions. These will include mood boards, sketch plans of the layout and ideas for hard landscaping materials and planting schemes. At this stage there will be a meeting between us to discuss ideas and materials etc... before moving on to creating the final design.
Presentation Plan
Once the layout is agreed, I will draw up a detailed, to scale plan for your garden. This will include details of all the hard landscaping and key features of your garden, with information on the materials used and suppliers. It can also show furniture and other accessories such as planters if these are required. To help visualise your garden, digital 3D models and elevation drawings will be produced. This plan can then be shared with your landscaper to begin to make your dream a reality. During the construction process I can be available for site visits if required.
Planting Plan
Plants are a hugely important aspect of creating a beautiful and fulfilling garden. I can create a planting design that will work alongside your new garden layout, carefully considering the areas of sun and shade, soil type and your personal style preferences. The position and quantity of each plant will be specified on the planting plan, and mood boards and visualizations of the how the plants will look are provided. If needed I can source the plants, and then return to plant them up. A maintenance schedule can also be provided, and visits to the garden can be arranged to discuss progress and for me to make additional suggestions.
Planting designs are also available as a separate service to the full design, if you have an existing garden that needs some fresh ideas.
